Family Involvement

More Than a Preschool. A Community for the Whole Family.

At GHCP, families don't simply enroll—they become part of a supportive community where children learn through play, parents grow in confidence, and lifelong friendships are formed.

A Community Built Together

The cooperative model is built on a simple idea: children thrive when the important adults in their lives work together.

At GHCP, families are active participants in the preschool experience. Working alongside our teachers, supporting classroom learning, and sharing their unique talents creates a welcoming community where children, parents, and educators all grow together.

As a nonprofit cooperative preschool, GHCP is powered by its families. Every volunteer hour, committee project, fundraiser, and shared idea helps keep tuition affordable while enriching our programs and creating opportunities that simply wouldn't be possible in a traditional preschool.

The relationships built through the cooperative experience often extend well beyond the preschool years, creating lifelong friendships and a community of support that families carry with them long after graduation.

Three Ways Families Participate

Every GHCP family contributes to our cooperative community in three meaningful ways. Together, these shared experiences strengthen our school, support our teachers, and create the welcoming environment that makes cooperative preschool so special.

Classroom Participation

Families volunteer in the classroom approximately 1–2 times each month, working alongside our teachers during the school day.

It's a unique opportunity to experience your child's preschool day firsthand. Parents or other caregivers gain a front-row seat to their child's growth while helping create a supportive, engaging learning environment where every child feels welcomed, encouraged, and ready to learn.

Committee or Board Service

Every family serves on a committee or the Board of Directors, contributing their time and talents in ways that match their interests and strengths.

Whether you're helping organize family events, supporting fundraising efforts, maintaining our facilities, assisting with communications, or serving in a leadership role, there's a place for every family's unique talents. Every contribution helps strengthen our school community.

Parent Education and Connection

Learning doesn't stop with the children.

Through our partnership with the Parent Child Preschools Organization (PCPO), families participate in parent education throughout the school year. This includes three required General Meetings, and other learning opportunities that provide practical parenting strategies, child development insights, and meaningful opportunities to connect with other families.

💜 Every family's schedule and circumstances are unique. If you have questions about balancing work schedules or participation, we'd love to talk with you. We're happy to answer questions and help you understand how the cooperative experience can work for your family.

Find Your Fit

Committee service is one of the three ways every GHCP family participates in our cooperative community. Families choose from one of four leadership and volunteer opportunities based on their interests, talents, and availability. Each team plays an important role in supporting our teachers, enriching our programs, and helping keep tuition affordable while strengthening the GHCP community.
